It is a training program that allows participants to learn, digest, apply, and integrate new information and skills over time. Q. Why consider a teleclass program?A. Companies are opting for teleclass programs for a variety of reasons:
Q. Is this a new approach to training?A. Teleclasses have been around for over 15 years. It is a cost-effective and time-efficient way to deliver a learning experience that allows people to stay in their own environment, fully participate in the learning, and also develop their listening skills at the same time. The person who facilitates the call is a trained, experienced teleclass leader. Q. What is teleclass technology?A. A teleclass is a training technology that allows multiple people to be on a phone line together. Think of it as a giant virtual conference call/classroom. From the privacy of their office, each participant dials a phone number and is allowed to “enter” a classroom via the telephone. The participant will be able to hear all the other participants and will also be able be heard by them. Additionally, each participant is provided with a package of materials, including Power Point slides to support people who learn visually. Exercises, assessments, and ancillary material will be provided to each participant by the start of class. Participants will have everything they need to fully participate in each class, and all the exercises and assessments. Q. Will someone learn as much from a teleclass program as they do from a traditional classroom training experience?A. Participants can actually learn and apply more of what they learn. Changing behaviors is a process, not an event. New skills and knowledge are integrated over time as part of a process so that what is learned can be practiced and applied in the workplace and become habit Each teleclass session is designed to present three or four concepts. Plus participants bring actual situations to the session for discussion and situational coaching. The result is high interaction and active participation. The teleclass leader who facilitates the call has specialized training and experience in teleclass design and delivery so that the teleclass experience, from the learner’s perspective, is interesting and highly interactive. Each class typically lasts 55 - 75 minutes and is designed to be highly relevant to participant interests. Participants are expected to come to each call prepared and ready to engage and be engaged! Q. How does a typical teleclass call work?A. At about one minute prior to the start of the call, each participant dials the number and is greeted by the person facilitating the call. Roll is taken so each person knows who is present. Then the facilitator will begin the teleclass. Participants are asked to say their name each time they have something to contribute so each participant and the facilitator knows who is speaking. This also prevents people from “stepping on” one another’s words. Participants are asked to call from an office or space where there will be no interruptions. Q. What is the cost of the actual phone call per participant?A. The phone cost for each participant is whatever you normally pay
for a long distance call. If your organization has a phone rate that
is 10-cent a minute for long distance, then each person would pay $6.00
for the 1-hour teleclass call. If you have a 5-cent a minute rate then
